Gay Valimont

Gay Gillespie Valimont is a mother and gun violence prevention activist in Pensacola, Florida who has devoted her life to improving public safety. Gay earned a bachelor’s degree in Health and Exercise Science from Georgia Southern University, her National Athletic Trainers Association accreditation, and her M.A. in Education from Troy State University before pursuing her career in sports medicine in Atlanta.

There she worked for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and, later, Emory Sports Medicine as an athletic trainer. As Gay built relationships with her players, they told her about their fears around the everyday gun violence some experienced in their neighborhoods. She knew there had to be solutions that could keep her players and community safe and decided then that she couldn’t accept just sitting on the sidelines.

The Democratic Coalition is based in Washington, D.C.

Scott Dworkin is the Co-Founder of the Democratic Coalition and its current executive director, as well as host of the Dworkin Report podcast, Series Editor of Meet the Candidates 2020: A voter’s guide, and former Deputy Director for the 2009 Presidential Inaugural Committee and the 2012 DNC in Charlotte.

The Democratic Coalition was formed in the Spring of 2016 with the main goal of making sure that Donald Trump never became President. The organization now exists to advance President Biden's agenda and elect more Democrats -- while still holding Trump and his GOP allies accountable -- through aggressive digital and traditional advertising, grassroots action, in-depth opposition research, and a nationwide rapid-response team.

The organization named chairs in all 50 states for the 2016 election who were comprised of Democratic elected officials, party chairs, delegates, grassroots leaders and activists.  Our Founding Chairman was Jon Cooper, former Democratic majority leader of the Suffolk County (NY) Legislature and the Long Island campaign chairman for President Barack Obama. He left the Coalition in early 2020 to take a position on the Joe Biden for President campaign.

We haven’t taken a day off for more than 8 months and we aren’t stopping now. We’ll continue dominating the messaging war online, and ramp up our pressure campaigns on corporate media to a whole new level after the election. I already have dozens of prominent orgs and influencers signed up to be a part of our massive Watchdog Coalition, and I want you to be a part of it.

How We're Fighting Trump

"One of the questions I get a lot is how folks can help with our fight against Trump. So I wanted to lay it all out in one post for everyone.

The Dworkin Report founded The Watchdog Coalition on election night in 2024. Initially, our intention was to take on corporate media for their constant pro-Trump propaganda, but when the election went the way it did—we expanded to take on his unhinged regime.

Now, with tens of thousands of members, The Watchdog Coalition serves as our activism arm—which mobilizes our massive Contact Congress campaigns, and our unmatched social media efforts.

But we need all hands on deck to keep this momentum going. With no outside investors or advertisers, all of our funding comes from our paid subscribers on Substack. So if you haven’t yet, please become one today":

"Our Contact Congress efforts are booming—having sent more than 329,000 letters and made tens of thousands of calls to the House and Senate.

Sign up to volunteer for The Watchdog Coalition here, where among other things you can help out with our social media campaigns, which generate billions of impressions per month.

Here’s what we’re pushing now—with a link to send letters for each one:

One of our most important campaigns is calling for no cuts—ever—to Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security (Link).

The Constitution is clear: elected officials—like the president—cannot accept large gifts from foreign governments without consent from Congress. We are trying to force a vote and block Trump from accepting the “gifted” plane from Qatar (Link).

Trump has committed impeachable acts—a lot of them. So we are pushing Congress to impeach him (Link).

We’re fighting to stop Trump's wasteful military parade (Link).

The Stop the Steal Act would prevent anyone, including DOGE, from meddling with our payment systems and data. We are urging Congress to pass it (Link).

The SAVE Act is nothing but a bill that would disenfranchise tens of millions of voters. We are demanding members of Congress vote no (Link).

We are calling on Congress to publicly urge Trump to drop the bogus charges against Judge Hannah Dugan (Link), to bring back Kilmar Abrego García (Link), and to demand Pete Hegseth’s immediate resignation (Link).

We are also pressuring Congress to stop Trump’s dismantling of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (Link), the Department of Veterans Affairs (Link), and the Department of Education (Link).

Trump’s Ukraine stance is anti-American, while lots of Republicans have been parroting Putin’s talking points. We are demanding they publicly stand with Ukraine over Russia (Link).

There is a bipartisan bill to cap credit card interest rates at 10%, and we want Congress to pass it (Link).

And we are pushing back against the threat of Trump working with the Senate to perform recess appointments (Link).

Onward!"
